Australian photographer Renae Smith may call London home (where she lives with her husband) yet she shall always adore travel. “I enjoy taking the time to venture to lesser known places, often drawn to uncommon beauty and details otherwise overlooked.”
With some of her family residing in Canada, she has a rather good excuse to occasionally swap continents and capture the wild, beautiful country. The photos below were taken on one such trip in 2014 when she visited Chester, a lovely village in Nova Scotia. “Known for it’s sailing, and only having had visited once before in summer, it was such a wonderful experience to capture it in the peak of one of the coldest winters there.”
Depicting the beauty of winter, and the resilience of the natural world, we can’t help but feel that these images, cool as they may be, capture the brilliant lightness of travel. Today it may be high summer but inside we are yearning for snow.
