Dear Budapest
Dear Budapest,
I'm not originally from you, but you've made me your own, and there's no place I'd rather be. I had no clue you'd be this cool when I moved here. Thanks for ten awesome years and counting.
I love your underground vibe, the narrow streets surrounded by magnificent buildings with tiny sculptures carved onto them. The entryways and courtyards in some of the older structures are truly breathtaking - artworks for us to live within. I adore bike riding and I am so grateful for all the great cycling paths overlooking the river or surrounded by woods. I love your bridges. I can't wait to have a picnic again on the Liberty Bridge or jog to Margaret Island via the Margit híd. Thank you, also, for your food markets. For your galleries. For your thermal baths.
You take great care of us coffee addicts. You offer so many cafes, including my favourite Espresso Embassy - their welcoming staff and cozy interior put a smile on my face every time I visit.
I love how each of your neighbourhoods feels like a village. I like to hang out in Madách Imre tér, eat a croissant on My Little Melbourne’s patio and watch people passing by. I love your warm, dry summers, the long walks in Városliget park, and play time with my friends’ dogs. I love your bright, cool nights and the little benches along the river where I watch the sunset as ships pass by. I am grateful for the legendary parties on A38 boat and the amazing vibe and energy spread by those who call you home.
I never take for granted the fact that it is very easy to walk around your streets. Your romantic landscape and architecture fill my heart. I am always ready to jump to tram nr 2 which rumbles along the river so I can admire the other half of you. I am happy that you are becoming a centre for artists and creatives from all over the world. Your streets are filled with music. And lastly, thank you for Gellért Hill - where your winding trails always lead to a new adventure and scenic backdop.
Much love, always,
