Photographs by James Loveday
London-based photographer and director James Loveday can feel at home anywhere in the world - which, given his natural, sun-drenched style of shooting, is all rather perfect.
Below is a collection of images from his ongoing ‘Wine Country’ project, which has seen him capture wineries and wine makers across the globe. These images hail from France (Alsace, Languedoc and Sauternes), Italy (Etna in Sicily, Campania and Frascati), Portugal, Germany and Morocco, and hint at the similarities in the process … and the powerful role of terroir. It is a drink shaped by the Earth, the elements and the hand of the wine maker.
Wine making is an art; generations-old, demanding, utterly dependant on the weather and land, and - we think - rather beautiful. James’ divine, vibrant photographs reflect its complexity and the passion of all those involved. We hope they inspire wanderlust and respect for this rather excellent tipple.
